Link Baiting to Build a Successful Affiliate Program

There has been a lot of talk recently about Link Baiting. I know the name itself may appear to be a Black Hat technique, but in reality it is a very simple concept. You can write a blog, article or provide some other form of content that is valuable enough for others to link to your page. The blog, article or other valuable content is the bait, and the link to your page is the catch – hence it’s called link baiting. Basically, link baiting is the process of creating something that naturally attracts backlinks for your web page.

Link baiting can be used to help build a successful Affiliate Program by not only getting you in the habit of providing valuable content in one form or another, but also by building your ranking on the search engines due to increased links to your pages. Simply put together a good “hook” page for others to view and that will get people to talk about your affiliate program, discuss it on forums, blog about it and post it on their own sites. The key to a really good “hook” page is to provide valuable content on News, Contrary, Attack, Resource, or Humor. Link baiting is still a new concept to me, so I look forward to putting it into Patrice and then sharing the results with everyone.

Blogger, Google and Home Business Journal working together

The last several months have been a learning experience for Home Business Journal or HomeBizJour. A decision was made at the start of the New Year to use Blogger to share our ideas and inform our visitors about Affiliate Marketing. The decision to use Blogger was based on the fact it is Google’s blogging platform. What we did not know, is that Google can take down your blog very quickly if they suspect you are spamming or splogging. This was very unpleasant. Especially to our regular readers that came to the site and received a message from Google stating that “this account is not currently active.” You are given the opportunity to prove that you “are a live person,” but it took HomeBizJour nearly 3 months to have Blogger confirm us and release our blog.
Needless to say, this has left a very sour taste in our mouth, but Home Business Journal has decided to give Blogger one more chance and to use this learning experience to share with our visitors. Therefore, we will be posting tips and tricks on how to maximize Blogger to increase your search engine rankings on Google. We hope to share as much insight into using blogs and how they can benefit you as an Affiliate.
