I know this is not exactly the best way to add new content, not the right reason for blogging. However, I hope this will provide a lesson and reason for keeping up on blog posts. After all, this is the best way to communicate on your website and share ideas with visitors.

The Affiliate Summit continues to grow. The agenda in place for the 2008 west summit in Las Vegas looks to provide a wealth of information for both beginners and advanced affiliates marketers. I have already spoken with many friends I have met over the years attending the Affiliate Summit and it will be great to see them all in person. I have been contacted by several new networks making a presence at the summit and can’t wait to see the familiar faces of those working with and for the well established firms.

I have signed and excited about attending the Internet marketing Boot Camp being sponsored and presented by “Ten Golden Rules.” Every time they have a presentation, you are sure to walk away with a few nuggets that can be implemented immediately. This event will be kicking of the Affiliate Summit for me and I cannot wait to get started.

Hope to see you there,
<bt>
RichHome Business Journalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12330977516320556634noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7038512016850465420.post-89367962223335337992007-11-28T09:30:00.000-08:002007-11-28T09:31:34.750-08:00Affiliate Marketing and Web 2.0After celebrating Thanksgiving and while relaxing to some great football games, I had the chance to reflect on 2007. It cannot be denied that this year has been the real homecoming and acceptance of Web 2.0. Social Community websites are everywhere and will not be going away anytime soon. In fact, Affiliate Marketing has embraced the web community concept and many merchants have found it a great way to get exposure and traffic.

So what is in store for us in 2008? Web 2.0 will continue to play a big role in Affiliate Marketing and Affiliates looking to make money online will have a much easier time. Why do I say that Affiliates will benefit? Because, community site are help to build out niches like never before. Like cable TV, merchants will be able to promote their affiliate programs through focused traffic and Affiliates are the best at generating that traffic. The good news about web communities is that marketing can be more specific which is a win win for the Consumer and the Affiliate.

RichHome Business Journalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12330977516320556634noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7038512016850465420.post-46706073386893005182007-11-19T13:25:00.000-08:002007-11-19T13:26:38.042-08:00Interent Marketing at the University LevelI had a really interesting conversation this morning with a friend of mine. It started out as a discussion about whether or not having a Microsoft server was better than having a Linux server. Although my friend was trained and certified as a Microsoft Engineer, the hosting company in which he is employed provides clients with more Linux servers than Microsoft. Since working on the Linux servers, my friend is convinced that this is the better way to go. Stability and administration seemed to be the deciding factor. But our conversation quickly turned from server management and reliability to SEO (Search Engine Optimization).

Apparently many of the big hosting providers are shifting gears and asking their engineers to become familiar with SEO. The hope is that this knowledge will better serve their clients. For anyone doing business on-line, a properly optimized website can mean the difference between success and failure.

As the discussion got more in depth, my friend started asking me where he can learn about SEO. He searched all the universities in southern California without success. Although he did get some feedback from several of the UC’s that they were thinking of adding Internet Marketing courses to their regular curriculum. Until then, I said to search the internet, join the forums and be a big sponge for all the information he was about to absorb.

More detailed information on this discussion coming in my next post.

RichHome Business Journalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12330977516320556634noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7038512016850465420.post-79282298391407368012007-11-15T10:16:00.000-08:002007-11-15T10:21:49.315-08:00Affiliate Marketing Resource - ReFocusingAffiliate Program reviews, Internet Marketing Resources, Online Marketing News and Articles, and Tips and Tricks of online success in the focus of this website. There are so many people attending now from across the affiliate marketing spectrum. Affiliates (Publishers), Merchants (Advertisers) and Networks cram into a room for the official kick-off event, the “Affiliate Meet Market.” There was such a strong showing, that it was not long before everyone was struggling to make their way from table to table, waiting one behind another, to chat with representatives. It is little surprise that this event is has grown to over 1800 people in a just a couple of years.

I had a great time seeing and touching base with so many people that I have met through the Affiliate Summit in the past, and had the wonderful opportunity of meeting so many more people. I already find it difficult to know where to start when sharing all the great affiliate programs and networks I came across today. However, there was one thing that really jumped out and I think is very interesting. Joel Comm, the “Doctor Adsense”, has put together a reality TV show for the internet called “The Next Internet Millionaire.” Now this has much more to do with Internet Marketing than Affiliate Marketing, but it will be interesting to see how affiliates can capitalize of this reality TV show contest.Home Business Journalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12330977516320556634noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7038512016850465420.post-59881869739919928222007-07-06T19:02:00.000-07:002007-07-06T19:05:02.696-07:00Affiliate Summit Prepares for a Big WeekendI arrived in Miami at 6:00am to rain and a temperature of 80 degrees. This is not what I was expecting for Miami, a place of sun and beaches, but believe this will be a good thing for the Affiliate Summit. The sticky humid air will help keep attendees inside, which means more networking and Joint Venture possibilities. After all, this is what the Affiliate Summit is really all about, a chance to meet people who are shaping the affiliate marketing industry and to get some insight on how the internet is changing. It’s all about meeting as many people as possible, publishers, advertisers, and networks from all niches.
I will be starting my Affiliate Summit by attending the “Affiliate Management Best Practices Seminar” where I hope to be able to share a lot of knowledge with aspiring affiliate managers and merchants that want to start an affiliate program. Attending this seminar will the start of a new section on HomeBizJour that will help people learn how to recruit and retain affiliates, building strong relationships with your A & B affiliates, create massive income, run a successful affiliate program and much more. I will be sharing just a sampling of this after the seminar.Home Business Journalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12330977516320556634noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7038512016850465420.post-73747303947598786402007-07-02T12:23:00.000-07:002007-07-02T12:27:39.878-07:00Affiliate Marketing Grows as we Approach Affiliate SummitOne week until the Affiliate Summit East 2007 and I am getting so excited. I have seen the Affiliate Summit grow in leaps and bounds over the last several years. Each time I attend this event, I learn so much more about Affiliate Marketing and how to grow my affiliate program. The upcoming event is being held in Miami. Last year it was held in Orlando and marked the first time the Affiliate Summit was held on the east coast. It was such a huge success, not only have they decided to bring it back to the east coast, but there are plans to hold an Affiliate Summit in London this September. Truly this is a testament to the growing popularity of Affiliate Marketing around the world.
I did not attend the Affiliate Summit East last year and was surprised how much information I missed out on. Everything on the internet moves at such a fast pace, that if you are not attending these types of events at once every 6 months, you can start to get behind on technology. That is why HomeBizJour could not miss out on attending this summit in Miami. I look forward to touching base with those I met in Las Vegas last January and look forward to meeting new people. The industry has changed so much, that not only can you meet people managing an Affiliate Program, but also many people from Networks, Managed services, Programmers, Developers and Affiliates. I look forward to sharing the Summit with everyone as it takes place and maybe even have time to get a sun tan.Home Business Journalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12330977516320556634noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7038512016850465420.post-48808684912715659122007-06-29T11:29:00.000-07:002007-06-29T11:31:05.342-07:00Explode your Affiliate Program with HomeBizJourFinally Home Business Journal has launched Phase 1 of changes to help affiliate managers explode their affiliate program. The focus for HomBizJour has slowly been changing from a review site to an all encompassing resource for affiliate programs, internet marketing, affiliate managers, merchants, networks, and publishers. The goal is to be a internet resource for advertisers, publishers, networks, and managed service companies.
Phase 1 includes revamping the homepage. The purpose it make more readily available, reviews on the hottest affiliate programs, insight into featured resources and products and share tips and tricks to expand and improve one’s affiliate program or website. These categories will be updated on a weekly basis and are sure to be of value to anyone interested in affiliate or internet marketing. The process has been slow, but with renewed focus, Home Business Journal is ready to take its website to a whole other level.Home Business Journalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12330977516320556634noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7038512016850465420.post-16626719082866113082007-05-25T08:47:00.000-07:002007-05-25T08:54:50.793-07:00Link Baiting to Build a Successful Affiliate ProgramThere has been a lot of talk recently about Link Baiting. I know the name itself may appear to be a Black Hat technique, but in reality it is a very simple concept. You can write a blog, article or provide some other form of content that is valuable enough for others to link to your page. The blog, article or other valuable content is the bait, and the link to your page is the catch – hence it’s called link baiting. Basically, link baiting is the process of creating something that naturally attracts backlinks for your web page.

Link baiting can be used to help build a successful Affiliate Program by not only getting you in the habit of providing valuable content in one form or another, but also by building your ranking on the search engines due to increased links to your pages. Simply put together a good “hook” page for others to view and that will get people to talk about your affiliate program, discuss it on forums, blog about it and post it on their own sites. The key to a really good “hook” page is to provide valuable content on News, Contrary, Attack, Resource, or Humor. Link baiting is still a new concept to me, so I look forward to putting it into Patrice and then sharing the results with everyone.Home Business Journalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12330977516320556634noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7038512016850465420.post-88921587516962676682007-05-17T14:33:00.000-07:002007-05-17T14:36:01.032-07:00Home Business Journal - Better Affiliate MarketingHome Business Journal (HBJ) has changed focus over the last several years from a product review site to now focusing on Affiliate Programs and Internet Marketing. A decision was made at the start of the New Year to use Blogger to share our ideas and inform our visitors about Affiliate Marketing. The decision to use Blogger was based on the fact it is Google’s blogging platform. What we did not know, is that Google can take down your blog very quickly if they suspect you are spamming or splogging. This was very unpleasant. Especially to our regular readers that came to the site and received a message from Google stating that “this account is not currently active.” You are given the opportunity to prove that you “are a live person,” but it took HomeBizJour nearly 3 months to have Blogger confirm us and release our blog.
Needless to say, this has left a very sour taste in our mouth, but Home Business Journal has decided to give Blogger one more chance and to use this learning experience to share with our visitors. Therefore, we will be posting tips and tricks on how to maximize Blogger to increase your search engine rankings on Google. We hope to share as much insight into using blogs and how they can benefit you as an Affiliate. By joining our newsletter, you will receive all the latest updates on affiliate marketing, internet marketing, products releases and reviews, along with blogging tips all sent to your inbox. You can also visit or site daily for the newest articles on affiliate programs and internet marketing. Over 2200 attendees packed into the conference rooms at the Bally’s Hotel and Casino to get the latest insight into affiliate marketing and discuss upcoming internet trends. Speakers have come from all aspects of the internet industry to discuss SEO, Website creation, the affects of MySpace, Lead Generation, and the power of niches.
This is my third year attending the Affiliate Summit and I have seen it grow from 250 people to over 2000 in that time. I have seen the power of Affiliate Networks grow in affiliate marketing by leaps and bounds. When I started three years ago, there was just a handful of Networks to choose from. Now, the Affiliate Summit is full of them. Networks expose Affiliates to many different affiliate programs in just one resource. Networks can often vary in their specialty of Internet niches, but I found that many are providing access to the same affiliate programs. The difference in their service will come from how well they support Affiliates. Therefore, as an Affiliate, you can either subscribe to many different networks or simply find one that works best for you and build a relationship with one Network. Often a Network will be more than willing to provide contact information on existing Affiliates to ask questions before joining. If you would like more information on Affiliate Networks please e-mail me at rrowe@HomeBizJour.com.Home Business Journalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12330977516320556634noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7038512016850465420.post-21559710385713512102007-01-18T08:45:00.000-08:002007-01-18T08:49:12.450-08:00Affiliates Generate More Commissions With Mini-SitesAffiliates are always looking to find new ways to generate traffic and increase their commissions. Many times this is through list building and e-mails. Last night I learned about the power of Mini-Sites and the potential they offer for increased conversions and commission. Mike Filsaime hosted a webinar featuring Jim Edwards and his product. Jim explained the power of mini sites and how they dramatically increased his sales and conversions. The Mini Site Creator is a great way for Affiliates to learn how to build Mini-Sites. This may not be for everyone, but definitely is worth adding to your affiliate marketing arsenal.Home Business Journalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12330977516320556634noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7038512016850465420.post-53917880936486277732007-01-15T10:58:00.000-08:002007-01-15T11:20:00.476-08:00Affiliate Marketing ExplosionAffiliate Marketing has seen amazing growth over the last couple of years.
